US President Trump

On April 3, local time, former US President Trump will travel from Florida to New York to prepare for arraignment on the "hush money" case at the Manhattan Criminal Court in New York on Tuesday.

In response to Trump's surrender, New York police blocked several roads near the Manhattan courthouse. Various organizations, including the New York Youth Republican Club, have announced that they will hold protest marches and Republican lawmakers will also participate in demonstrations.

As the first former president of the United States to be criminally charged, Trump did not lose popularity due to the "hush money" case, but won a small climax in his approval rating. The first poll since the Manhattan Grand Jury voted to indict Trump showed that Trump's support rose not only in the Republican Party, but also in general.

With the help of the prosecution, Trump's campaign team frantically sucked money, receiving $4 million in donations from grassroots supporters within 24 hours.

Pre-trial preparation

Trump advisers revealed in an interview with Reuters that Trump will arrive in New York on Monday local time and stay overnight at Trump Tower. On Tuesday morning, he will travel to Manhattan Criminal Court and is expected to be arraigned by a judge in the afternoon.

According to the normal procedure, after the defendant turns himself in, fingerprint registration and mug photos will be taken, and the investigator will read to the defendant the right to remain silent. Depending on the severity of the charge, the defendant may or may not be handcuffed.

Joseph Tacopina, one of Trump's lawyers, said in an interview with the media on Sunday that Trump would not be handcuffed and would deny all charges. Manhattan criminal court officials revealed that Trump's arraignment will begin at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday and that the courtroom on the upper floor of the courthouse will close at 1 p.m.

Sources also said that Trump's process of registering fingerprints and taking photos will not be made public. New York law discourages authorities from releasing the defendant's headshot, but does not rule out Trump's initiative to make the photo public as campaign material. As for whether the media will be allowed to enter the arraignment, the judge is consulting the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and Trump's side.

The judge Juan Merchan, who will interrogate Trump, is the same judge who tried the Trump Organization tax fraud case last year, and Trump has already complained on social media, saying that Mercan "hates" him. Last year's case was not against Trump himself, but two business entities under the Trump Organization. The two companies were eventually convicted of 17 counts, including tax fraud, and were fined $1.61 million.

Because he was not charged for a felony violent, Trump will be released on self-sponsorship without bail after denying all charges. After that, the court will hold multiple rounds of hearings on the case, which will take months to years from prosecution to actual trial.

Trump has announced he will speak at Mar-a-Lago after returning to Florida Tuesday night after Trump and other Republican heavyweights unanimously slammed the indictment as a witch hunt for Democrats.

To show its dissatisfaction, the New York Youth Republican Club announced that it would hold a protest march in the park opposite Manhattan Criminal Court, and Republican Congressman Marjorie Taylor Greene would join the protest. In addition to the protests, the Saide Intelligence Group, which monitors online extremism, showed that some extremist netizens called for the "execution" of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on social media.

New York police said there are no credible threats against New York at this time. To prevent a repeat of the Capitol riot, New York is stepping up security efforts, with police erecting barricades around Trump Tower and blocking several roads near the Manhattan Criminal Court.
